I recently worked with the group F.U.Z.Z. on this track and am really happy how it turned out. It’s finally motivated me to work on beats more and I really like the sound and feel of the vocalist.
A few years ago I thought I was done Dj’ing for groups until I met up with a friend who I had gone to high school with, but never really talked to when I did. After talking some more I found out he was now in a group called Future Shock. They had gone through a few Dj’s and some I guess were just irresponsible and always late. They knew I was a trusting guy and could take care of things Dj wise so I started doing shows with Future Shock.
We did shows up and down Southern California, but I eventually had to pull out due to being unemployed and I needed something that was going to pay. They’re great guys and put out positive music. Here is a video from one of their older albums:
I’ve finally woken up and have come across/researched music that I had heard before, but never took the time to look more into it. I’ll start with Antony Hegarty, who if you listen to Bjork you would have heard him on her last album Volta and the song “The Bull Flame of Desire”. He has a very distinct voice and I appreciated it the first time I had heard it, but again never took the time to research him.
Recently I had heard him on a song with Hercules & Love Affair and realized I needed to find out who this guy is. Well he’s 37 year old Antony Hegarty originally from Sussex, UK, but now resides in San Jose, California. Although he has a band called Antony and the Johnsons from NYC, so I’m unsure where he resides exactly, point being his voice is amazing.
I’ve been following this group called Pocket for about 3 or 4 years now. I first saw them play up in Carlsbad at what was then Neiman’s [now the Ocean House] and I was blown away at how good they were. I had never seen a local soul jazz band play, so I had to find out more about them. I started going to every show they played at, and even though they always played generally the same sets, the music was always amazing to listen to. I’d try to get friends to come out because explaining how good they were wasn’t enough. The friends that did come out agreed that Pocket was awesome, and the ones who didn’t come out will just never know. This is some old footage I took of Pocket playing at The Kava Lounge when they were playing there. For more info on Pocket and where they will be playing, check out their website at PocketRecords.com.
I seem to have lost touch with a good friend of mine since she has moved to L.A., but I check her flickr page every once in a while and see that she is still taking beautiful photographs.
This came to my attention. I still don’t know if I want one, or if I can just live watching it once a week on youtube. But the USB Pole Dancer has to be one of the funnier USB toys I’ve seen out there lately.
I used to really like Jay Z and never liked Lil’ Wayne, but after MTV votel Lil’ Wayne best MC of 2007 I think some people had to disagree. As for Jigga Man, wow. I guess not everyone comes original anymore at all, and here is the proof.
I’ve finally put in an order for an internal MCD drive for my MPC 2000XL on MPCSTUFF.com. I’ve had it now for almost 10 years and it still has the floppy drive installed, but for 10 years I’ve been using an external SCSI Zip 100 drive [yeah, I know SCSI]. I keeps it real, well I guess saving one beat on 5 floppies would really be keeping it real.
I’m glad I’m finally [after 10years] upgrading the last bit of this machine. This new addition will make me more productive in getting beats done bc it will be all one unit. If you own a MPC 2000XL or any of Akai’s drum machine, some good sites to check out are: MPC Forums.com, and MPC2000XL.com.
